The “Peek” ($100) is an email device that does email, and only email. Optimistically think of it this way, the Amazon Kindle is to books, as the Peek is to email. Pessimistically think of it this way: We’ve had this functionality in mobile devices for years. For $15 a month (through T-Mobile), you can constantly be connected to all of your email accounts with the Peek… But aren’t most of us already constantly connected? I’m a little confused as to what market they’re aiming this product at.

Why I won’t be purchasing a Peek:
Because I have an iPhone.
Why anyone would purchase a Peek:
- They don’t have an email enabled cell phone or smart phone and can’t wait to be at a computer to check their email.
- They want to waste $100 and $15 a month.
- They are unaware that mobile products have had this ability for years.

I have to defend the Peek. Although some cell phones have similar features, if you get a cheap cell phone, with cheap service, and a PEEK, you would not spend as much as if you bought an iPhone or G1.
I pay $15 to t-Mobile for unlimited text messages. With a Peek, and paying 3 months in advance, I get unlimited email. Peek is not for everyone. It is for someone who wants a bit of simplicity in their digital life.
